Fiat Cars From Tata

Tata Motors is planning to launch Fiat models Grande Punto and Fiat Linea in India.

Now it is the time for some Fiat cars from Tata. In 2006 Tata motors and Italian automotive major Fiat made an agreement to work together. This joint venture covers manufacture of passenger cars, engines and transmissions for Indian and overseas market.

Rajiv Dubey, President of passenger car business, Tata Motors says: “Fiat Punto and Fiat Linea are planned to be launched soon. Fiat will unveil several products during the Auto Expo next year to test the market”

Grande Punto, a premium hatchback is categorized in to the upper segment compact cars. Fiat Punto is expected to provide a tough competition to Swift diesel, Getz CRDi and Indica. Fiat Grand Punto is expected to launch in first quarter of 2008.

Fiat Linea is a sedan and is targeted at the premium sedan lovers. Linea is based on current Fiat Grande Punto platform. Tatas are expecting to launch Fiat Linea by mid 2008.

These cars will be sold through the Fiat and Tata dealer networks.
