Mahindra Renault’s Logan – The Most Spacious Sedan on Indian Roads

Mahindra, one of India’s best automotive maker is entering ’sedan space’ with their debutant “Logan“. This modern looking car is not only beautiful, but also the widest and most roomy car in A3 segment.

Mahindra’s entry to car making is the result of co-operation with European car maker Renault. Logan is the first product that is released under Mahindra-Renault association. Logan was originally designed by Romanian automotive company Dacia, now owned by Renault. Logan is still sold in Europe as Dacia Logan.

The Mahindra Logan is an Indian adapted version of European version. In order to reduce the overall cost some of the premium features in European version are not available in Indian Logan. The “Indian” adaptation includes, a new powerful air conditioning system, better suspension, high ground clearance and right hand drive.

Mahindra Renault Logan comes with 50% locally built parts, while the remaining important parts including Engine are imported from Renault’s manufacturing plants in Romania & Spain.

Logan looks extremely modern. With chrome plated modern grille, body colour matching bumpers, smooth headlamps and the carefully crafted tail lamps, Logan makes you feel you are seeing a futuristic concept car.

Interior Looks

The important thing that will surprise you is the spaciousness of this car. As Mahindra advertises, Logan is the the most roomy car on Indian roads. Thanks to Renault’s space optimization design. There is plenty of leg, shoulder and head room and that will make you feel you are travelling in a very big car. The back seat can comfortably accommodate three persons. In fact Logan has 3 head rests for the back seat. That will give you an idea of the airy interiors in Logan. Coupled with contemporary interiors, you feel the best comfort you can get from an Indian sedan.

The driver’s information panels are also modern. It gives you information on overall fuel consumption, kms you can travel with remaining fuel, average fuel consumption, predicted fuel economy and average speed.

The safety features of this sedan includes honeycomb dashboard, airbag for driver, collapsible steering column and other usual contemporary safety measures.

Mahindra Logan comes in total of 3 petrol (GL/GLE/GLS) and 2 diesel (DLE/DLS) variants. The *LS versions are the fully loaded version where all available features are included. The version *LE indicate they have power steering.

M&M says, the petrol variants get a mileage of around 12-14kmpl and the diesel variants at 14-18kmpl. The petrol versions are priced at 4.28 – 5.8 lakh rupees and diesel versions at 5.6 – 6.7 lakh rupees.

Mahindra-Renault plans to launch this vehicle on May 2007 in two phases. First phase roll out includes the 9 metro cities and in the second phase (June/July) this car will be available in rest of the 15 major cities across the nation.

    hi, great news for all Logan owners, from a recent press release ive learnt that according to the 2007 India initial quality study, Logan has been ranked the best in the Entry Midsize category with the least amount of problems…according to the stats its d best in the whole Midsize segment…

    Thanks for your comments. Yes, we too think Logan is far superior than any other car in its segment. Only problem that Logan lack is luxury. Some people want more luxury and they go for higher priced cars. Thats all. :)

    I think Logan has better milege too. ( Not sure about it though )

    Mahindra has brought out some really good tips on getting the maximum fuel efficiency out of a car …. I just read the article on http://www.mahindrarenault.com.
    It seems that Mahindra Logan is the best Indian car in terms of mileage. It gave a mileage of 30.36 Kmpl during a 981 km drive from Delhi to Ahmedabad. Even my bike doesn’t give me that kind of a mileage

    Mahinda Renault has launched the new LOGAN PLAY.

    I visited the showroom and and saw the new logan play, i even took a test drive,
    the performance is amazing, the fresh look of the car does attract the buyers, it has the all new sporty look and flashy vinyls does compliment the car.
    the car seems easy to maintain and the spare parts are also easy to get, it is a total value for money.

    Kindly let me know if spare parts are readily available in Logan? There have been complaints about not even getting a hand brake
