Persona And Saga, the Protonians from Malaysia
The Malaysian car maker, Proton is planning to extend their car market to India. Secret sources reveal that they have already tested their cars on Indian roads. On Monday morning, the 1.3 litre ‘Saga’ and the 1.6 litre ‘Persona’ were being driven on the Greater Noida Expressway.
Yet it seems that they have not finalised the strategy of entering Indian car market. Sources added that a top-level team from Proton is currently in India. They are busy conducting feasibility studies and are holding discussions on manufacturing and design with Argentum Motors.
Proton cars are considered to be high-end. Still there are times when they had to face quality and finishing issues. The reason for a change in marketing strategy accounts for losing market at home. In Malaysia they have overpriced the cars because of stagnant economy.
The Protons have been successful in acquiring British marque Lotus Technologies a few years back. Having access to new technologies might have paved them the way for changing the track to establish a decent business in India.
The Popular Protonian models include ‘Saga’ and ‘Wira’ sedans, ‘Satria’ or the Proton Compact and ‘Putra’ the sporty coupe.
